Tourist Attractions

Madidi National Park

Madidi National Park is characterized as one of the parks with the most biodiversity, in flora and fauna as well as in ecological floors, as it ranges from perpetual snows to the Amazonian plain and hosts community ethnic groups in its territory. The great heterogeneity of habitats determines the presence of a great variety of plant species; 4,838 species of vascular plants have been recorded, but the total flora of the area is estimated at around 5,000 species. The park's fauna responds with similar diversity patterns; there are 1,370 vertebrate species recorded, and future studies are estimated to reveal the presence of 600 more species. Among the attractions are La Pampa, which is in the municipalities of Reyes and Santa Rosa; the Madidi park jungle and the Pilón Lajas protected area.

The Yacuma River Pampas

The Municipal Reserve of the Yacuma River Pampas or popularly known as "Las Pampas" is one of the most impressive wildlife destinations in the Bolivian Amazon. Located in the Beni department, this protected area is approximately 100 kilometers from Rurrenabaque, a journey that combines land travel and river navigation, with an estimated time of between 3 and 4 hours, depending on road and river conditions.

The main attraction of the Yacuma Pampas is the extraordinary ease of observing wildlife in its natural habitat. During boat tours along the Yacuma River, it is possible to spot pink freshwater dolphins, caimans, turtles, capybaras, and a great diversity of birds such as herons, jabirus, and kingfishers. During the dry season, the concentration of animals on the banks makes the observation experience even easier.

In addition to river tours, the reserve offers guided walks through flooded savannas and riparian forests, sport fishing for piranhas, and photographic safaris at dawn and dusk. The combination of extensive pampas, open skies, and rich biodiversity makes this destination an ideal complement for those visiting Rurrenabaque and wishing to explore the Amazon in an accessible and safe way.

The Municipal Reserve of the Yacuma River Pampas is synonymous with ecotourism, adventure, and direct contact with Bolivian Amazonian nature.
