Rurrenabaque - Selva and Pampas

The town of Rurrenabaque "The Touristic Pearl of Beni", is situated where the river Beni converges at the foothills of the Andes and the endless plains of tropical forest. It is also known as the gateway to the Bolivian Amazon, in the middle of the jungle and ideal spot to start the adventure of biodiversity, lush landscapes and native cultures that make this region a highlight of Bolivia.

Rurrenabaque is located in the department of Beni, near Madidi National Park, with a population of 10,000 inhabitants. Unique in its landscapes is considered the third most visited tourist destination in the country, after Lake Titicaca (La Paz) and the Salar de Uyuni (Potosí).

 Among the attractions that can be visited from Rurrenabaque: Las Pampas of the Yacuma River, which is in the municipality of Santa Rosa 3 hours far from Rurrenabaque; the Madidi National Park and Pilon Lajas at the zone well known as the Jungle. Close to Rurrenabaque there is also the "Most Biodiverse Golf Camp in the World: Chocolatal Golf Eco-Resort" and the private reserve of "Jaguarete, Biological Station".

Madidi National Park is known as one of the most biodiverse zones in the world, flora and fauna as well as ecological zones thata come from the perpetual snow to the lowlands of the amazon, also there are harboring ethnic communities in its territory. It was declared by National Geographic as one of the most biodiverse areas on the planet and one of the 20 most tourist places worldwide. 

With an area of 616,453 hectares, "Pampas of the Yacuma River" constitutes the largest municipal protected area in Bolivia and perhaps in the world, according to specialists in the field. Originally conceived as an area of 15,000 hectares. "Pampas Yacuma River" is located in a region of high biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest and savanna in the department of Beni, still considered a threatened ecosystem, home to a number of threatened and endemic species, among which are: Paraba Bluebeard, two species of monkeys (Callicebus modestus and Callicebus olallae), marsh deer, giant armadillo, River Dolphin (Inia geoffrensis), Turtle River, anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla), and Jaguar (Panthera onca).
