South America Itinerary: Ecuador, Colombia, Perú and Bolivia

24 Days and 23 Nights


Arrival and transfer to your hotel in Bogotá. Pedestrian route through the historic area of Candelaria, famous for its beautiful colonial houses and republican place where culture and art come together. Tour at the “Cultural Apple” of the Republic Bank (Botero Grant, Mint House and the Gabriel García Márquez Cultural Centre), later will visit the Gold Museum with the sample of over 50,000 pre-Columbian pieces, the exhibition moves to all visitors to enjoy the majesty of our ancestral cultures, finally we will geto to the Sanctuary of Monserrate at the mountain. In the afternoon we will enjoy a trip to Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral, one of the great engineering works of Colombia, the majesty of this mine lies in its construction gave the use of their tunnels, the fourteen stations of the ordeal of the Narthex, the choir and the beautiful Central Nave.

Transfer to the airport for flight from Bogota city to Armenia. Reception and transfer to the coffee region.
Make a tour to the Botanical Garden Butterfly (Calarcá), we will learn about the care and respect to each of the elements of nature and the important and fragile interdependence among them. Guided tour of the Butterfly Garden, Insectarium, observation tower, suspension bridge, Garden Lovers, Labyrinth of humility, muleteer Bridge and other attractions.

Experience the "World of Coffee", which offers to travellers multicolours from green coffee plantations wonderful, various shades of Guayacanes staining with deep green colours of the mountains and the traditional houses adobe and eateries; during this tour you will visit a traditional small coffee farm owned by a family, showing step by step coffee practices in natural settings: planting, harvesting, processing and grain drying, continuing the journey towards the town of “Finlandia”, known for its craftsmanship in basketry, where you will enjoy a short talk about a delicious cup of coffee. We continue the journey to the town of Salento where the experience will be complete while learning the toaster and tasting coffee, and visiting the shop "Café Jesus Martin" who joined us during the whole tour, finally we will learn about the "late" art, enjoying a delicious snack made with coffee.

The experience of this day begins at the Plaza of Salento, where we take local transportation to the Cocora Valley, for an ecological and scenic walk to the Natural Heritage Green through beautiful pastures adorned by Quindio wax palm (the national tree of Colombia) during the quest for the entrance to the cloud forest, where we can observe the impressive "Morro Gacho" place full of legend where there are graves of local indigenous, then we go inside the forest walking through the lush vegetation and rustic bridges while we arrive to “Herecia Verde” (Green Heritage), where you can observe more than 10 species of hummingbirds, sipping a cup of hot chocolate or sugar water. Return to Armenia to take the last flight back to Bogota.

Bogota – Quito flight, reception at airport and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon city tour in private service.

Transfer to the airport to board the flight to Galapagos. Afternoon excursion to Charles Darwin Station.

Floreana Island Tour with lunch.

Transfer to the airport for the Galapagos flight back to Quito, night in Quito.

Transfer to the airport for the flight from Bogota to Lima. Upon arrival to Lima we will enjoy a city tour visiting the Cathedral and Main Square, then San Fracisco Convent and its catacombs, and also the greatest treasures of Peru at the Central Bank Reserve Museum and finally the residential and trade areas of San Isidro and Miraflores. In the evening dinner at the famous restaurant "Dama Juana" to enjoy the world-famous Peruvian cuisine.

Reception at the airport and transfer to hotel. Afternoon visit to the city and surrounding ruins: The Church of the Cathedral Square, the Temple of the Sun or Koricancha, Sacsayhuaman, Quenqo, Pucapucara and Tambomachay. Overnight in Cusco.

8:30 departure for the excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, high Andean visit the village of Pisac, where you can appreciate the craft fair and learn more about the local culture. We continue our journey to the town of Urubamba, where they will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. After lunch we headed to the village of Ollantaytambo to take a guided tour of the ruins. After the tour you will have time to explore the town while waiting for the train to hrs. 19.00 to Aguas Calientes. Arrival in Machu Picchu village station, also known as Aguas Calientes to hrs. 22:00, reception and transfer to hotel.

A hrs. 6.00 After breakfast, we board the buses heading to the citadel of Machu Picchu, where we will have a guided tour of this amazing archaeological site, new wonder of humanity. If they choose will have the option to visit Huayna Picchu and the rest of the morning free to remain in the archaeological complex.
A hrs. 14:00 return by bus to Aguas Calientes and then free time for lunch we boarded the train bound for Ollantaytambo expedition (alternatively Poroy station), after 1 ½ hrs. arrival travel and mobility contact for transfer to the city of Cusco, to your hotel.

Transfer to the bus terminal to board the tourist bus to Puno, it is a 11 hours trip. Arrival, transfer and overnight at hotel in Puno. Dinner at the best restaurant of the city, "La Casona".

We will pick you up from the hotel to leave towards the port of Puno to visit the Totora floating islands of the Uros, the visit has duration for 40 minutes and then we take the boat towards the Taquile Island, unique in their customs and landscapes. Will walk half an hour to reach the village, where we will taste a typical lunch. Visit the island and return to the city. In Puno transfer back to the hotels.

At 07:00 you will be picked up from your hotel, then we will travel through the Altiplano (high plateau), after 2 hours trip we will cross the strait of Tiquina, before arriving to Copacabana town we will enjoy a panoramic observation of Major Lake (Huyñay Marca - Perú y Bolivia) and Minor Lake (Chucuito- Bolivia). Arrival to Copacabana at 11:30, from there we will travel by boat to the Sun Island, at its south part we will visit inca’s archaeological site of Pilcocaina, where we will get a typical lunch. 
Later, low difficult walk of one hour, up the hill to the town of Yumani, there we will visit “Escalinata Del Inca” (Inca’s stairs) and “Fuente de las 3 aguas” (the Fountain of the 3 Watersheds) where we will have some time to take pictures and enjoy a breath-taking view of the lake and the Royal Range of the Andes, then we will go back to Copacabana by boat. As the last activity we will visit the village of Copacabana and its church, a religious sanctuary in honour of Candelaria Madonna, an important pilgrimage site, and then we will have a little time to visit the town and handicraft stores.
Note: It is a rush tour, to visit briefly the most important attractions of the Lake Titicaca.
Return at 18:00; arrive to La Paz city at 21:30 approximately.

Transfer by regular bus to the city of Oruro, 4 hours from La Paz, lunch and tour of the city of Oruro, to hrs. 15:30 we board the train to Uyuni. Arrival hrs. 22:30, transfer to the hotel of salt: Luna Salada. Overnight in Uyuni - Colchani.

We cross the infinite salt plane from north to south, leaving it behind we will travel along the volcanoes range with their eternal snow going to Lípez, there we will have a view of the Ollagüe Volcano at the distance. Then we restart the trip to the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve, where we will appreciate the svelte figure of the wild Vicuñas, while we get to the lagoons of Cañapa, Hedionda and Honda where you will see different kinds of birds.
Then we will arrive to the Siloli Desert where we will have some time to take pictures of this magnificent landscape and if it is possible you would see the Vizcachas (wild desert rabbit).

This day we need to get up very early (at 5:30 approximately), our first activity is the visit to the Stone Tree, famous rock formation in the Desert, latert we will get to the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve, arriving to the Geysers of “Sol de Mañana” during the most active moment and with the first ray of sunlight. The cold is intense but, we will be able to walk among the smoky and noisy geysers, boiling mud stewpot where red and grey mud is boiling. Later we will enjoy a bath in the hot springs, in the middle of the Lípez Highlands. 
Later we will get to the Dali Desert, there are surrealist columns of stones sculpted by the wind. After that, we will appreciate the Laguna Verde (Green Lagoon), one of the pearls of the Reserve at its best moment; we are now at the foot of Licancabur volcano. 
It’s time to take the road back, towards Uyuni we will arrive to the Laguna Colorada (The Red Lagoon), this is the main flamingos nesting site, and there you will find three kinds of flamingos and other kinds of birds as Andean seagulls and wild ducks. The red color of the lagoon comes from the effect of the solar radiations and wind on the algae and plankton.
We continue our journey, in the afternoon; we will take a walk around the Rocks Valley, giant volcanic rocks close to Alota. Our last stop is at San Cristobal village which has been moved from its original site to the actual one for the needs of one the biggest mine in Bolivia.
Arrival to Uyuni at 18:00 approximately.

Our staff will pick you up from your hotel at 11:00 approximately, first we will visit the Train Cemetery where you can learn more about Uyuni’s history, later we will enter to the Uyuni Salt Flat by Colchani, where we will see the salt artisanal extraction. Later, inside the Salt Flat we will arrive to the “Salt Hotel-Museum”, the first of its kind. Next we will be able to see optic illusions, able to see just in raining season (December- March), and also we will visit “Ojos de Agua” (Eyes of water), small salt water eruptions which help us to explain the development of this salt lake.
At noon you will visit the “Incahuasi Island” in the middle of the Salt flat; there are extraordinary calcareous rocks, large populations of Cactus, caves, tunnels and a spectacular 360 grades panoramic view of the Salt Flat. We will continue our tour to the north part of the salt flat visiting a local museum, where we will be able to see pre-Columbian mummies. Later we will get to the Salt Flat viewpoint at the foot of the Tunupa volcano.
At the end of the afternoon we will arrive to Tahua for overnight.

At 8:00 we will star our journey in private transportation to the city of Potosi, is a 4 hours journey. Lunch at a local restaurant in the city and then began our tour at the city, rich in colonial architecture, also visit the Mint House, the most important museum in Bolivia. After the city tour we continue our journey to the city of Sucre, 3 hours trip until we arrive to our hotel in Sucre for overnight.

Today we leave the city of Sucre behind to get to the Potolo community, an indigenous community characterized by its rich Jalq'a textile crafts and agriculture. Visit on the way to the Chataquilla Chapel, Chaunaca. Return to Sucre.

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Santa Cruz, it is a 40 min. flight. Reception at the airport of the city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. From the airport we headed Laguna Volcan Golf Eco Resort, where we will have the rest of the day at leisure. The Laguna Volcan Golf Eco Resort is a luxury resort at 85 kms from Santa Cruz in the border of Amboró National Park, one of the most bio diverse on the planet, there you can relax at the resort in an ideal environment, and with a unique panorama, the Laguna Volcán Resort offers activities such as: golf, trekking, nature trails, fitness centre and a pool.

Departure at hrs. 9:00 form the Laguna Volcán Resort to the town of Samaipata, the area is bordering the south side of the Amboró National Park, where we will visit the archaeological site of "El Fuerte", declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, “El Fuerte de Samaipata” is located on the top of a hill, at 1,950 masl. After a lunch in the town of Samaipata we headed to the Amboró Park to visit the "Forest of Giant Ferns". Return to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, arrival at the hotel at hrs. 19:00. Accommodation in Santa Cruz.
