Sopocachi is a centenary neighborhood, created due to the growth of the city of La Paz at the beginning of the 20th century, the large houses built there at that time had a colony architectural design of "country houses". With the time passing by, at the end of the last century, due to the presence of artists and intellectuals who resided in the place Sopocachi became in the "bohemian" zone of La Paz, as well as by the presence of the Escuela de Bellas Artes (School of Fine Arts); in the area the house of Marina Nuñez del Prado (1908-1995) is located, she is the greatest Bolivian world recognized sculptor.

Unfortunately population growth and different offices, both from public institutions and private companies, have pushed to demolish many of the centenary houses and replaced them by modern buildings and shops.

However, architecture is only one of the visible expressions of history, Bolivia´s past, present and future are also revealed by its magnificent gastronomy, so that our country is positioned among the most interesting in the world (At her article, Mary Holland from BBC explains why Bolivia is one of the new world´s gastronomical destinations among Peru). Our food is represented by a hughe variety of ingredients, derived from the various Bolivian ecosystems; Sopocachi offers a wide range of restaurants, bars and street food which are vivid expressions of Bolivia's excellent culinary tradition.

The corner of 20 de Octubre avenue and Fernando Guachalla street, which strives to preserve its heritage architecture, has 3 exquisite gastronomy restaurants:

  • Ciclik Restaurant, Honest Global Food
  • Charque del Valle Restaurat
  • Sopocachi Truck Stop

Ciclik Restaurant, Honest Global Food

With great visibility because it is located in the corner, with a varied "criollo" (creole) menu such as Menudito (meat with sausages), "Pesque" (quinoa with cheese), Quesumacha (mainly broad beans and yellow bolivian chili: "ají") and the delicions trout, the most wanted fish in the Andean area around Lake Titicaca.

The restaurant´s menu also includes international dishes (dishes from 11 different regions of the world), vegetarian options and handcrafted beer.
